The right to freedom of the press as illustrated in the first Amendment dictates that the government may not suppress the people’s right to freely publish and print what they please. This is in reference to the people being allowed to publish written material criticizing the government, similarly to how I have been. This also extends to freedom of expression in books, plays, movies, and other areas of entertainment. This can involve banned books, censorship, age-inappropriate restrictions, and much more.
This is important because it means that the government cannot prevent the people from discussing beliefs and opinions through media and different printed/ published mediums.
